Chimpanzee orphan illegally held in Monrovia, Liberia

SUBJECT: “Chimpanzee orphan illegally held in Monrovia, Liberia”

SOURCE: Anonymous

COLLECTION DATE: February 11, 2015

ACTION: In contact with local NGOs and activists. Looking for a solution. Asking for a seizure.

TEXT (sanitized):

“This was sent to us by (OMITTED) in Monrovia: “I think it’s still a young chimpanzee, maybe puberty age. No idea on gender, maybe female as it doesn’t seem that aggressive? The chimp is being kept in an abandoned concrete building on the ground floor, I think occasionally they let the chimp out in the courtyard (which is basically a pile of dirt) and there it gets (sometimes) bullied by dogs/children. Location: The blue cross on the attached map. This is at (OMITTED), west of Monrovia.”

ATTACHMENTS: Picture of the chimp (below here) and map with location (OMITTED)
